​​Eligibility Requirements

 

  1. Early Childhood Programs seeking accreditation must be licensed by the governing body of their state as well as any other local licensing authority.

  2. Early Childhood Programs must use a developmentally appropriate curriculum.  

  3. Early Childhood Programs must be willing and available to conduct a self-evaluation and an on-site evaluation with a K-School accreditor.

  4. Early Childhood Programs must be willing to make any applicable changes as determined by a K-school accreditor or the K-School Accreditation Committee.

 

Early Childhood Programs that meet the eligibility requirements above may apply for the K-School Accreditation at any time. To begin the application process, please contact the K-School Accreditation Committee at info@thekschool.com. A self-evaluation will be sent to the program to be completed by the director or other applicable staff member. To be eligible for accreditation, the program must meet all accrediting standards outlined in the K-School Accreditation as well as any state or local licensing requirements applicable to the state in which the program is housed.

​Steps to Accreditation 

  1. The applicant submits all required documentation, including the self-evaluation form.

  2. Upon reviewing the application, a K-School accreditor will contact the applicant to schedule an on-site visit and evaluation.

  3. A K-School accreditor will visit the facility seeking accreditation and conduct an evaluation to ensure all requirements are meet.

  4. The accreditor will submit their evaluation along with all prevalent information and required documentation to the K-School Accreditation Committee.

  5. The K-School Accreditation Committee will review the submitted application. Should the committee require steps to be taken before accreditation can be issued, the applicant will receive further instruction. 

  6. Upon review and approval of the application the applying program will be issued a K-School Accreditation Certificate. 

  7. Programs must renew their accreditation every five (5) years to maintain accredited status.
